The brief
SixD Engineering had spent nearly two decades becoming the firm that heavy industry calls when precision cannot be negotiated, and was still being bought as a supplier. Zerologic was engaged to reposition the company as a category leader and rebuild the brand around an idea that was already true on site and unnamed in the market. The engagement covered brand strategy, positioning, brand ethos, identity system, and the guidelines that govern them.

Context
Established in 2006, SixD works in the gap between what a plant was drawn as and what it has become. Industrial assets are modified, patched, and rebuilt across decades until the drawings and the steel no longer agree. That divergence surfaces as clashes, interference, rework, unplanned breakdowns, and safety exposure, and it is expensive in a way that rarely appears as its own line item.
The firm closes that gap through dimensional engineering, as-built digitisation, reverse engineering of obsolete components, and consultancy across power, steel, cement, and oil and gas. Its clients are the names that define those sectors.
The perception had not kept pace with the capability. SixD was registered, shortlisted, and awarded as a scanning and alignment contractor. In industrial procurement that is not an impression, it is an entry in a vendor system, and capability added after registration does not change the row it sits in. It becomes a longer line item.
The company had outgrown the category the market had filed it under.

What we found
In heavy industry, the currency is time. A shutdown burns money by the hour, and every service SixD sells compresses that clock. The clients had been saying so for years: a decade of testimonials praises the same thing, completed to the required accuracy, in the stipulated time, without rework. The category talked about accuracy. The buyer was measuring time.
That produced the axis: Adapt. Accelerate. Adapt names eighteen years of absorbing each new technology. Accelerate names what the client gets for it.
Time became the mark. The identity is an hourglass built from two triangles, the two things an industrial client counts, tilted to read as forward motion rather than countdown. Its premise is that time is not a constraint, a claim only a firm known for finishing early can make.
Partnership was encoded in the geometry. Two parallel lines run through the mark, one SixD, one the client, crossing at the junction of excellence. A vendor is instructed. A partner is inside the diagram.
The mark exists in three dimensions because the business does. It is a 3D illusion produced by two colours working against each other, and the guidelines forbid single-colour use for that reason. SixD converts flat drawings into accurate three-dimensional reality. The logo cannot be flattened without ceasing to be itself.
Futura carried the rest. Drawn in 1927 from circles and geometric primitives, nearly a century old and still reading as forward, which is the brief in a typeface. Fire Orange at 60% for the plant floor, Electric Blue at 30% for the data layer. Field first, models second.

Reflection
The hard part was not the strategy. It was persuading a firm that had won on delivery for eighteen years that delivery excellence had become the thing holding it in place.
Category perception is stickier in B2B than most brand work assumes. A consumer reassesses in an afternoon. An industrial buyer reassesses at contract renewal, and only if something forces the question. Repositioning of this kind has to arrive before the salesperson does.
Building the client into the mark was the decision with the longest life. Most leadership repositioning inflates the firm. This one made room for the customer inside the geometry.
The proof is what has happened since. The brand was built for four sectors and one office. It now carries seven verticals, a second entity in Sharjah, and a digital twin layer that did not exist when the guidelines were written. The system absorbed all of it without amendment.
